Each license agreement is good for one year.
Q: Does this course teach all I need to know to become a CWI?
No. The AWS CWI certification exam is in 3 parts: 1) The Fundamental examination, a closed book test consisting of 150 multiple choice questions; 2) The Open Book Code, testing an individual's ability to apply the correct codes, and 3) The Practical examination. WeldAcademy will prepare you for the Fundamental examination and will offer some information that can be applied to the practical exam. Q: I don't want to become a CWI. Should I purchase this course?
Even if you are not interested in becoming a CWI, our course offers a variety of modules for you to choose. For example, welding symbols are the universal means of communication for the welding industry, so everyone who deals with welding design documents can benefit from the material covered in Module 4: Weld Joint Geometry and Welding Symbols. Training managers and trade school instructors may want to consider Module 8: Welding Metallurgy for Welding Personnel, which covers the basics of metallurgy in a new and more dynamic way. Q: I am already a CWI and I want to become a SCWI (Senior Certified Welding Inspector). Will this course help?
This course will provide you with a solid review of the core knowledge you need to know as you begin to prepare for the SCWI exam. A SCWI is expected to know what a CWI must know plus more in depth knowledge in areas such as QA/QC systems, preparation of WPSs, and repair welding.
Q: If I complete this course, am I a CWI?
No. This course is designed to provide you with the basic theoretical knowledge you need to pass the Fundamentals component of the 3-part AWS certification exam. You will need to contact AWS for information on how to take the certification exam.
